Decimal View


The Decimal View shows the file in decimal numbers. Every byte is represented by a value in the range 0 - 255.

Example: Typing 101 in the Decimal View will set the value of a byte to 101 (the character e). Typing an e in the Text View, or 65 in the Hexadecimal View, has the same result. One byte can be represented by one, two or three digits. The minimum value is 0, maximum value is 255.

Keys in this view are:
0 to 9 You can use these keys to enter a number. Press backspace one or more times and enter a new value. Pressing one of these keys will not insert a byte.
Backspace Backspace will only delete the last digit of the decimal number of the byte you're editing. It will not delete bytes nor change the location of the cursor in the file.
Delete Deletes the byte at the cursor position. If the file size is protected with Keep File Size at... the byte is filled with the fill character (Options Menu).
Enter Moves the cursor to the next byte.
Ins Toggles the Insert Mode. The Insert Mode influences the Paste option.

Hold the Shift key and use the other keys listed here to select a number of bytes.

These keys move the cursor from one location to another.
Alt Opens the menu
Keys linked to menu options These keys have the same functionality as the menu options they are linked to. For example, pressing Control + F will open the Search Window.
